Welcome to ProcessEvents V1.3. (or SendEvents V2.0 if you prefer)
There is an important difference between ProcessEvents and all earlier versions
of SendEvents. ProcessEvents is in reality, SendEvents V2.0 and it now uses
its own configuration file (ENVARC:Thor/ProcessEvents.config). This file is
created during installation.
YOU SHOULD ALWAYS USE THE INSTALLER SCRIPT TO INSTALL ProcessEvents.br.
If you do not use the Installer script, then the configuration file will not be
created and ProcessEvents will not work. I have done it this way in order to make
it easier to use and setup without error.
The installer script will copy the new version of ProcessEvents to your
(Thorpath)/rexx/bbsread directory. It will also copy the Guide document to your
(ThorPath)/Docs directory. Your old 'ProcessEvents.br' file will be renamed to
'ProcessEvents.br.old' before the new version is copied. The Guide file will
overwrite the old version.
Of course, if you do not enter the correct details during the installation
process, then I cannot be held responsible for that. If you are unsure of what
to enter, click on the 'Help' button for some guidance. If that doesn't help
then EMail me.
The installer will ask you various questions, or present you with some options,
complete with examples where necessary. There are defaults for most things, if
you use the same, then simply click on 'Proceed'. If you wish to change
something, clear the text string and enter the new text (or click on a different
radio button, or select a different dir/file) and then click on 'Proceed'.
You will have the chance to check your entries before the configuration file
is copied to your ENVARC:Thor directory. If you do make a mistake, you should
quit the installation process and start again. You can skip the copying of
files, as this is done before you start to enter your setup details.
I would welcome any comments, both about ProcessEvents itself, and the Installer
script (since it is my first one).
If you use ProcessEvents.br, PLEASE send an Email saying so. I would really like
to know how many people are using it.
Thank you.
